Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important representative said the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
