Liz Truss, kicked off the first edition of her video series with a vow to reveal "the evil-doers" attempting to undermine Western democracies. Truss elaborated she would uncover how an "international network of liberal activists operate to subvert popular rule and the public's choice."

"Our focus will be on the political movement of Donald Trump and see how this can be achieved in Britain," she said. "We will interview the leading lights of the Make America Great Again campaign."

In advance of the program's debut, there was a strong advocate. "This is the beginning of a sort of political shift," said veteran reporter John Solomon. The right-leaning Just the News platform will host the former prime minister's new podcasts.

Forging Alliances in the Maga-Verse

Compatriot supporters, including a counselor supportive of Reform, assisted in her launch the Truss's program. Its staging is professional, if somewhat rudimentary. She has gathered a subscriber base of 10k in her initial seven days and her debut garnered tens of thousands of views during that week.

It is a modest start, but in partnering with John Solomon, she is being thrust into a mature conservative ecosystem creating and spreading Maga talking points. Its obsessions include accusations of information control by the traditional news outlets and a goal to dismantle a conspiratorial 'deep state' – which Truss blames for the swift end of her calamitous premiership.

"The platform is not famous outside of the Maga world, but it does have influence there, mostly due to Solomon, who gives commentary on conservative outlets like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even spoken with Donald Trump," said Alex Hinton, who has closely studied the Trumpist political wave.

A Divisive Associate

Truss's attempt to transplant Maga media to the UK has pushed her closer to contentious individuals such as John Solomon.

He established his media outlet in the wake of scrutiny following accusations of promoting misleading narratives about the President's actions in Ukraine, as well as contentious articles about the former US ambassador to Ukraine.

His claims were amplified throughout the pro-Trump media, with Solomon featuring as a regular guest on Sean Hannity's influential cable news broadcast. Trump himself promoted Solomon's reporting.

Solomon made the Ukraine claims in a series of columns for the outlet the political newspaper, where he had already been re-labelled as a columnist following internal criticism about his work. These reports were pivotal in the then-president's request for the Ukrainians to look into the Biden family in 2019. This pressure culminated in impeachment proceedings targeting Donald Trump. The US Senate later acquitted the president.

Shortly after he exited the Hill in October 2019, the outlet stated it was conducting a review of his columns about Ukraine. It concluded the journalist had used unreliable sources and noted he "omitted key facts about key Ukrainian sources, specifically the fact that they had been formally accused or were the subject of inquiries."

Becoming Part of the Sphere

His media appearances are a indication of the conservative ecosystem Truss is becoming part of. He talked about his backing of her new show on a show he co-hosts on the conservative cable network, a conservative television outlet that is the base for the Maga influencer former adviser Steve Bannon and on which former Fox host Tucker Carlson also features. Truss has already hosted Steve Bannon on an early episode.

Through her association with Solomon and Just the News, she has become a minor player in a broader ecosystem of pro-Trump platforms that routinely share and promote one another's material.

The journalist's programs have often featured individuals such as Mike Benz, a conservative commentator whose arguments against the US Agency for International Development was used by the X owner as justification for shutting down the international development organization.

An International Strategy

While the former PM's unnatural presentation and career difficulties have invited ridicule at home, certain American analysts are not discounting her efforts to rebrand as a UK offshoot of the Make America Great Again press.

"One must regard individuals such as her seriously, despite the fact that you may not want to accept their words at face value," commented a Democratic strategist, who was employed in the Obama White House.

Professor Alan Finlayson, said the digital right-wing media sphere was already having an impact in the UK.

"Digital media transcends national boundaries," Finlayson remarked. "There exists a sort of environment within which ideas travel – sometimes manifesting in radical ways and occasionally in softer tones – but which is interlinked."

Professor Hinton said the rise of the internet-based right wing in the United Kingdom lately meant the "potential to have a increasing influence is substantial."

Cross-Atlantic Aspirations
